Raisin the Roof!

We’re back with another update on Connect: Sensory Science! Week 3 was a ton of fun because we did a dancing raisins activity, and then made sensory bottles!

First, we started off with the dancing raisins experiment. For this, each child was given two clear cups, water, club soda, and raisins. The kids filled one cup with water, and the other cup with soda. Then, the kids dropped raisins into the soda cup. The carbonation in the soda caused the raisins to bob up and down, or dance, which the kids all gasped in awe over!

For the main activity, we made some beautiful sensory bottles. Each child was given an empty VOSS water bottle, wooden shapes of their choice, food dye, and glitter. The group then measured out baby oil, water, and a bit of soap to create a shiny, bubbly mixture that showcased the colour of their bottle and the objects inside. Each child’s bottle was unique to them, which made the project really fun to do.

After we finished up with the activities, we packed up, had some chats about it, and then said see you later!
