A marble-ous end to the group
Week 5 of Connect: Paint It!
We are back with our final blog post for Connect: Paint it! This week was a ton of fun. Not only was the painting fun, but it was also fun to just reflect and connect on what we enjoyed in each session.
For our main activity, we learned how to marble our own cards. Everyone was given a tray, shaving cream, tempera paint, and cardstock. A thick layer of shaving cream was sprayed onto the tray, followed by a few drops of tempera paint (all completed by the kids). The group then "marbled" the shaving cream by mixing around the paint. The cards were lightly dipped onto the tray of shaving cream & paint mixture and quickly scooped back up to wipe the shaving cream off of the card. The result was an instantly dry, marbled card! The kids could then personalize and decorate them.
Our marble craft took up most of our time, but we also gave the kids a wooden animal statue to paint if they had time. It was a relaxing final activity to end the last night, and the group had a chance to talk about their favorite activities over the past 5 weeks. We also enjoyed some Pokemon snacks and juiceboxes at the end!
We both had so much fun volunteering for this group! We learned lots of valuable art skills, and also really enjoyed leading such a great group of kids.
