KEEP CALM AND PADDLE ON
Week 5 of the Connect: Paddle Royale Program
Today was a super hot day to be out at the lake. All the littles were very excited to get right into the water, but first Bini, our instructor, explained to us what we were going to be doing. Bini told us that we were going to be paddling across the lake in our canoes over to a spot that they also rent. So we all split into groups of two and got into our canoes. Bini instructed us on which way we were going to be taking, and encouraged everyone to work together to paddle. We got about half way and Bini got us to all group together so we could switch some people around. This was a fun, and sort of challenging thing to do while still on the water.
After finally getting to our designated spot, we hopped out of our canoes and the Littles immediately went and jumped into the water. They would have stayed in the water the whole time if we let them, but after about 20 minutes we had to get back into our canoes and start paddling back. This time we got paired with different people so it was more of a challenge and everyone got to work with different people.
On the way back we went the exact same way we came, and at this point all the Littles were getting a little tired, but we motivated everyone to keep going. My canoe and another canoe with some of the Littles had a race on who could get back to the beach first. The little did such a great job paddling and working together that they beat me to the beach. They had so much canoeing across the lake, but they all said that they are still looking forward to going in the kayaks next week.
