You’re ROCKING THE BOAT!

Week 3 of the Connect: Paddle Royale Program

Today was the third week of Paddle Royale, and with the warm weather everyone was very excited to get right into the canoes and start practicing and learning new things!

We started off by doing some more group games and learning how important communication is. The instructors got the littles all paired up and we paddled around the lake learning a new technique with our paddles, then we had to switch spots while staying in our boats in each others canoes trying not to tip; it was fun but definitely got us all a little nervous!

After everyone was done switching all the littles got to jump into the water and play another game called gun wars. The instructors got the littles to stand on the edges of their canoe (also known as the gunwales) facing each other and trying to tip the canoe, but trying not to fall in until your component fell in before you. This was such a fun activity for all the littles and a great chance to enjoy the water with the warm weather.

The instructors had so many different games for us to play! They had another one that many of us know as hungry hungry hippos, but this was a tad bit different. We had two canoes; one with 4 littles and one with 3 littles and me. The instructors put out colourful balls and our goal was to go around and collect as many balls as we could. Me and the three littles in our canoe were being very competitive and worked together to try and collect as may balls as we could. The other team unfortunately got more than us but it was still lots of fun!!!

The littles had such a good time and were so happy to be able to jump into the water! Everyone is sure loving the warm weather and learning all about canoes and kayaks. Join me next week to see how many times the littles and I tip our kayaks over!
