Demonstrating Our Skills

Week 8 of Connect: Nukko Lake

This week at the Connect: Nukko Lake group was a bit emotional, as it was my last session working at BigsNBC. Overall though, it was a great session with the kids!

We started the group off by playing Jenga. Each block had a question written on it, so when it was each kid’s turn they answered whichever question was on their block. Some of the questions were “what would you do if you a million dollars?” or “would you rather speak to animals or have super powers?” This was a great activity to build connection and trust in the group, and the kids seemed to really enjoy it!

Next we played a teamwork building game with cups! We were put in teams of 3, and we had to use a string that was tied to a rubber band and pick up a cup with it. Our task was to stack the cups to resemble the pictures that I brought. This was a tricky challenge for sure, but the kids seemed to really enjoy it! It also showed us the power of teamwork.

After we completed the challenge, we then chatted about how I was leaving, and they gave me a wonderful card that I will always cherish. This week was very special because the kids got to demonstrate their skills in connection, trust, and teamwork that we have worked on throughout this group. We could not be more proud of them!
