They were FRAMED!

Week 3 of the Connect: Arts and Crafts Program

We had so much fun this week! Making fun things like slime or galaxy jars is always a good time, but making something that the kids can keep and use for a long time is also something special. This week we made our very own painted picture frames, which the kids could use to put ANY picture they wished once they got home. There wasn’t too much else to it! We encouraged all the kids that the world was their oyster – they could do anything their hearts desired!! We saw such a variety of designs and ideas. One of the Littles made such a cute frame so she could put a picture of her dog in it and even put her dogs name: Ace! Another Little had a plan to put a picture of her and her little cousin in it and she was going to put it up in her bedroom. We saw different colours, and stickers added and one Little even used sponges to make a galaxy-type of print on her frame and added the prettiest glittery moon!

By this week we definitely saw more and more chatter happening between the Littles. They were definitely getting more comfortable asking each other questions, showing each other what types of things they were doing and just engaging in conversation. At the start, Amy and I really conjured up all the conversation by asking questions to the group and to specific Littles so we got everyone involved, but slowly and surely they needed us to do that less and less! It was so nice to see one of the Littles so excited to show off her new shirt to the rest of the group.

We even had a little bit of extra time so everyone was able to have some freedom in their last half an hour. Some drew with pencil crayons, some did mazes and word searches and some painted – which included a beautiful rainbow!

Not much else to say other than I’m excited to see what next week brings (word on the street is there’s a special guest coming to lead)!!!!
